Audio Feature: July 11 Special Cairo Town Meeting

Jul 12, 2017 12:02 am

A "special" Cairo town board was held July 11 about a pig farmer who lives next to a board member who is in a court battle with the pig farmer, but is not recusing himself in proceedings so far. The town is investigating a health complaint against the pig farmer, Jason Watts. Doug Ostrander, one of two board members not present July 11, is the neighbor of Watts. Watts, the owner of Watts Oil and a hog farmer, was just endorsed by local Republicans for the November election for town board. Ostrander's term ends December 31. Near the end of the meeting Town Supervisor Dan Benoit and board member Mary Jo Cords gave opinions about where matters stand. Click here to play or download a recording of the full meeting.
