Report: Women in Albany out-earn men

Chelsea Diana is reporting in the Albany Business Review Albany is one of just 22 cities in the country where women earn equal or higher salaries than men, according to the report from NerdWallet, a personal finance website. According to the report, women in Albany make 111.3 percent of men's wages based on a median income of $29,814. Albany ranked fourth among U.S. cities behind Inglewood California, Trenton, N.J. and Orlando, Fla. Nationwide, women make about 79 percent of what men make. Statewide, women make 88 cents of every dollar a man makes. The NerdWallet survey used data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey in 2005 and 2013 to rank cities.
