Locally, many people still need to fill out census forms
Jul 21, 2020 12:51 pm
The Census Bureau reports that locally many people have not filled out their census forms. Every ten years, Congress is mandated to count the number of people in the country, and funding for a host of programs depends on how that count goes. Right now, all local counties self-response rates are below 2010 levels. Throughout the entire 19th Congressional District, for instance, only 49.1 percent of people have filled out their census forms, according to the bureau. Greene County has just a 39.8 percent response rate now, while Columbia County is a slightly better, at 48.7 percent. In Albany, Rensselaer, Dutchess, and Ulster Counties more people have filled out their forms, with rates of 61.5, 59.3, 61.0, and 55.7 percent, respectively.
