Beacon adds all-electric police car

Mid-Hudson News reports that the City of Beacon has added an all-electric car to its fleet that currently includes four hybrid police vehicles. And the hybrid cars are being charged by renewable energy. “We are producing about 70 percent of the electricity that the city uses including for recharging these cars at our solar facility. We are also going to be expanding how much solar energy we produce by putting an installation on our highway garage early next year,” City Administrator Chris White said.
