Incumbent Athens village mayor Peter Alberti has been unseated by Trustee Stephan Brandicich, according to results published by the Greene County Board of Elections March 22, following the conclusion of the absentee ballot count. Alberti, a Republican, received 225 votes total — 218 on the machine, and 7 absentee. Brandicich's name appeared on both the Democrat and Independence lines and he received a total of 249 votes, 39 of which were cast via absentee ballot. Republicans Robert Scott and Shannon Spinner came out on top in the field of five vying for two open village Trustee seats. They will each serve two-year terms. Brandicich's election leaves a vacancy on the village's four-person Board of Trustees.
