Another dollar store opens on Fairview Ave.

[/caption]A Dollar General store opened this week on Fairview Ave. in Greenport. A two-mile stretch of that road also includes a Yankee $ store, a Dollar Tree, a Big Lots!, a Goodwill, a Salvation Army, and signs where Save a Lot and Just a Dollar stores used to be. The Daytona Beach News-Journal reported last week that "Dollar General reported $11.8 billion in sales with more than 8,800 stores in fiscal year 2009. Competitor Family Dollar reported $7.9 billion in revenue in its fiscal year ending Aug. 28 and has about 6,800 stores. Dollar Tree, which has about 3,800 stores, had $5.2 billion in revenue in fiscal 2009, which ended Jan. 30."
