Clinton, Trump win New York primary; Sanders tops in local counties

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton won their respective primary elections for president in New York Tue., Apr. 19. WGXC will update local numbers as they come in.

Bernie Sanders won the 19th Congressional District 60 percent to 40 percent, meaning he gets three delegates at the national convention, and Hillary Clinton gets two.

Republicans in Greene County voted, according to Greene County Board of Elections:

Donald J. Trump (REP) 2,538 63.02%
John R. Kasich (REP) 794 19.72%
Ben Carson (REP) 50 1.24%
Ted Cruz (REP) 645 16.02%
Total 4,027 100.00%

Democrats voted, according to unofficial results from the board of elections:
Bernie Sanders (DEM) 1,458 57.86%
Hillary Clinton (DEM) 1,062 42.14%
Total 2,520 100.00%

In Columbia County, Bernie Sanders leads Hillary Clinton 3,302 to 2,481. Donald Trump leads John Kasich, Ted Cruz, and Ben Carson, with, respectively, 2,522 for Trump, 1,194 for Kasich, 684 for Cruz, and 56 for Carson.

In the New York 9th Senate District special election to replace convicted Republican Senate leader Dean Skelos, Democrat Todd D. Kaminsky has declared victory over Republican Chris McGrath, but McGrath has not conceded. At 12:30 a.m., Wednesday, Kaminsky led by 780 votes with all precincts reporting. Democrats would pick up a seat with a Kaminsky victory. Democrats and Republicans currently split Senate with 31 members each. A Kaminsky win makes it 32-30 Democrats.
