Schneiderman investigating Manafort with special counsel Mueller

Aug 31, 2017 5:00 am
Josh Dawsey reports for Politico that special counsel Robert Mueller’s team is now working with New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman on an investigation into former Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort and his financial transactions. The move comes after President Donald Trump issued his first pardon last week. Trump could pardon Manafort, but he could not stop an investigation by a state government. The report says Mueller and Schneiderman have shared evidence and discussed the potential case frequently, but “nothing is imminent,” said one person familiar with the case. Schneiderman has previously investigated Trump's university, and Manafort has real estate holdings in New York that the AG may be looking at. Trump has previously denounced Schneiderman as a “hack” and “lightweight.” Read the full story in Politico.
