NYSUT announces endorsements in federal, state contests

New York State United Teachers Fri., July 17, announced its endorsements for the 2020 federal and state elections. The state's largest teachers union is supporting incumbent U.S. Representatives Sean Patrick Maloney (18th CD) and Antonio Delgado (19th CD). In the state Assembly races, incumbent Didi Barrett received the union's support. NYSUT chose not to endorse in the 102nd Assembly District race between newly announced challenger, Windham Democrat Betsy Kratt and incumbent Republican Chris Tague. The union is also choosing to sit out the 43rd Senate District race, where Republican incumbent Daphne Jordan is being challenged by Democrat Patrick Nelson. Political newcomer Democrat Michelle Hinchey has received NYSUT's backing in the 46th SD race over Republican Richard Amedure. New York State United Teachers is a 600,000-member state teachers union, affiliated since 2006 with the American Federation of Teachers, the AFL-CIO and the National Education Association.
