CBC watching bills in Albany

David Lombardo reports for Capitol Confidential that the Citizens Budget Commission is now tracking legislative bills that attempt to expand economic development. The state has many development programs, grants, and other funds that supposedly create jobs. The Citizens Budget Commission is trying to compare the money the programs spend and the number of jobs created. The group is now tracking 84 bills. “Until there is comprehensive reform of economic development programs, including transparent reporting on all current projects, no new programs should be created and no existing programs expanded,” says the CBC. “The bills listed in the scorecard should be rejected by the Legislature and the Governor.” Read the full story at Capitol Confidential.
