Canadian border to stay closed to nonessential travel

Bob Johnson is reporting for newyorkupstate [dot] com the Canada-U.S. border will remain closed to nonessential travel for at least another month, Canada’s Public Safety Minister Bill Blair said August 14. Blair's statement came one day after Mexico announced a similar measure for its U.S. border. The land border restrictions are intended to be a tool in controlling the coronavirus pandemic and was first announced in March. The closure has been renewed every month since. Essential cross-border workers like health care professionals, airline crews and truck drivers are still allowed to cross. Much of Canada's food supply comes from or via the United States.
