Hein stepping down to take job in Cuomo administration

MidHudsonNews [dot] com is reporting Ulster County Executive Michael Hein will be stepping down from his post to serve as the commissioner of the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance. Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced the appointment Jan. 4. The appointment is subject to approval by the state Legislature. Hein is a Democrat and lives in Hurley. He was elected in 2008 as the first Ulster County executive and then re-elected in 2011 and 2015, according to Patricia Doxsey, writing in the Daily Freeman. Under Ulster County law, Hein was required to create a list of succession that names who will serve as acting county executive until a special election can be held.
