Chatham welcomes new superintendent
Claire Gilbert is reporting in The Columbia Paper the Chatham school district has a new superintendent. Dr. Salvatore DeAngelo was hired by the Board of Education in January and formally took the reigns July 1. He replaces Cheryl Nuciforo, who announced her retirement last year. A resident of Schenectady, DeAngelo comes to the job with more than 30 years of experience as an educator. He most recently worked for the Bethlehem Central School District in Delmar where he served as the chief technology officer. “People have asked why I would be interested in going to a smaller, more rural school,” said DeAngelo. “And I think the answer is simple — I feel you can have a much larger impact when you’re able to get to know people at a more personal level.” DeAngelo describes himself as a lifetime learner and student-centric, and says strong personal relationships with students and community members are high priorities. DeAngelo said the Chatham district is in decent shape, and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve. Read the full story in The Columbia Paper.
