Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo's Press Office has announced the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Enforcement Campaign is now in effect through January 1. Cuomo announced December 11 that state and local law enforcement agencies throughout New York will step up patrols over the coming weeks to prevent impaired driving during the holiday season. The program is sponsored by Special Traffic Options Program for Driving While Intoxicated, with funding from the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee. During the 2018 campaign, police statewide arrested more than 4,000 people for impaired driving and issued 144,200 tickets for other vehicle and traffic law violations, according to the governor's press release.
