Apr 02, 2020 1:00 pm
Columbia County Board of Supervisors Chairman Matt Murell April 1, announced county buildings will remain closed to the public through April 17. “This may well wind up going through till the end of April, but at this time we are proceeding in two-week increments,” Murell said. “This is also coinciding with the current school district closures.” The county also announced office of Emergency Management has received Personal Protective Equipment bulk deliveries from the state. Office Director David W. Harrison, Jr. said that two deliveries have been received since the weekend. The deliveries are now received at the county Public Safety Facility, and from there, county staff split up the items and deliver them to Columbia Memorial Hospital, nursing homes, healthcare providers, county emergency management services, fire departments and other eligible agencies and organizations. Sheriff David Bartlett reported the county is now conducting live video arraignments in the lobby of the county Public Safety Facility. The lobby area is large enough to allow for appropriate social distancing and it can be wiped down after each session. Bartlett said Columbia County is the first county in the Third Judicial District to provide this process. Read Murrell's daily update at ColumbiaCountyNY [dot] com.
