Columbia County 911 is reporting via Facebook the National Weather Service in Albany is monitoring a strong thunderstorm in southwest Columbia County, in the Clermont/Germantown area. This storm has not reached "severe criteria" yet, but it is capable of producing 1/2" hail, frequent lightning and heavy rain. The storm is moving southeast. The chance of severe weather will continue into early evening, but the storms will be isolated. A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 8 p.m. for Columbia, Greene, Dutchess and Ulster counties.
