Bill would give taxpayers some breathing room on local taxes

Nick Reisman is reporting for State of Politics under legislation proposed by state Sen. David Carlucci, New York's local property tax deadline would be extended through Dec. 31 this year. The newly introduced bill would delay the quarterly installment payments for county, town, and school property taxes statewide. Late fees for residents and small businesses would be waived as a result. The measure is meant to provide some financial relief for property owners. “Unemployment and underemployment rates are skyrocketing, and many New Yorkers and small businesses are struggling to pay their bills.
