Police union at odds with Hudson mayor
Feb 25, 2017 12:06 am
Time-Warner Cable News reports that the Hudson police officer union has issued a statement at odds with the mayor and police commissioner. On Feb. 20, Hudson Police Commissioner Martha Harvey and Hudson Mayor Tiffany Martin Hamilton signed a "order on the use of city resources and facilities" Feb. 20 keeping federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement personnel out of city buildings. The order specifically prohibits ICE officials from using "city rooms, desks, communication devices, or facilities, vehicles, apparatus, or other resources," except as required by law. Local 3979, the union representing some police officers in the city, issued a statement asking the mayor to rescind the order, saying it limits an officer's ability to enforce the law. ICE officials have reportedly taken four immigrants in Columbia County into custody in the past week. Read the full story on the Time-Warner Cable News website.
