Cairo-Durham's Fassett: Regrets letter writing campaign

Mar 01, 2013 6:58 am

Cairo-Durham Superintendent Mary Fassett apologized during the Board of Education meeting, Thurs., Feb. 28, for a letter writing campaign in which district students were instructed to write to Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo's office without first obtaining parental or guardian permission. Fassett said her intention was not political, instead it was an attempt "to call attention to the faces behind the data." A robocall and letter at the district Web site gave parents and guardians a specified time period to request their child's letter not be sent to Albany. PLAY (1:57) -- Galen Joseph-Hunter
