No local students have organized school walkouts to protest gun violence this Friday, April 20, according to the map for the second National School Walkout. On March 24 multiple local schools including those in Chatham, Catskill, Coxsackie-Athens, Ravena, Kingston, Rhinebeck, Red Hook, Bethlehem, Ballston Spa, Rondout Valley, Saugerties, Ellenville, Albany, and many other districts held similar protests. Those protests came after 17 were killed in a Florida school shooting Feb. 14. This Friday, only F.D. Roosevelt High School in Staatsburg is on the protest map. There are also several Albany schools, and schools from Western Massachusetts, including Great Barrington and Stockbridge, on the map, but none from the upper Hudson Valley. April 20 is the anniversary of the Columbine High School shooting.
