Cuomo calls out Capital Region for high COVID-19 positivity rate

Edward McKinley reports in the Times Union that Gov. Andrew Cuomo warned the Capital Region's COVID-19 positivity rate is getting dangerously high. The seven-day positivity rate for the Capital Region is 8.48 percent, higher than the statewide 8.33 percent rate. Cuomo also noted that the number of tests given recently is down markedly because of the holidays, so it will be a few days until the current situation is fully understood. In the meantime, the local coronavirus numbers are not good. The state webtracker site reports Columbia County had 25 new cases on Dec. 27. Greene County reported 34 more cases Dec. 27, and one more death. Ulster County had 56 new cases, and Dutchess County 169 new positive tests. There were also 101 new positive cases in Rensselaer County Dec. 27, and Albany County had 251 new cases.
