Mar 10, 2017 12:49 pm
Victoria Addison reports in the Register-Star that the Columbia County Board of Supervisors voted to increase the limits for alternative veterans tax exemptions to the most allowed by the state, at a public hearing March 8. Exemption levels increase from $24,000 to $36,000 for wartime veterans, $16,000 to $24,000 for wartime veterans that also served in a combat zone, and $80,000 to $120,000 for veterans with disabilities. Veterans who served in the Persian Gulf War, Vietnam War, Korean War, and World War II are eligible for the exemption. No one spoke at the public hearing before the vote.
