Latest appeal over Amazon building going up in Schodack
Jan 06, 2020 11:43 pm
Michael Williams reports in the Times Union that the Birchwood Association in Schodack filed an appeal against the town's planning board last week, saying the 1,000,000-square-foot Amazon warehouse currently being constructed was approved without an adequate environmental assessment of the project that sits atop an aquifer. Last month the Appellate Division of the state Supreme Court denied an appeal of an earlier decision to dismiss the lawsuit. Now the case is before the Court of Appeals, which is expected to rule next month. The site's developer, Indiana-based Scannell Properties, completed its own environmental assessment, but there was no independent study of environmental issues caused by the building now going up on Route 9 in Rensselaer County. Amazon hopes to have the building open by next fall. Read more about this story in the Times Union.
