Maura Rosner reports for Columbia-Greene Media on June 1 Village of Athens officials celebrated the community’s first public electric vehicle charging stations. “This has been a long time coming,” said Athens Mayor Amy Serrago. “We’ve been looking forward to this visible symbol in the heart of our community that shows we are committed to do our part in the fight against global climate change.” The $41,400 for the two chargers with two ports each will be covered mostly by a $10,215 grant from the Athens Community Foundation, $16,000 in rebates from the New York State Energy Research Development Authority, and a $13,700 incentive from Central Hudson.
