Out-of-district money flowing to 46th Senate District race

Justin Mason reports in the Daily Gazette the race in the new 46th state Senate District between Democrat Cecilia Tkaczyk and Republican state Assemblyman George Amedore Jr., is about to heat up with a sudden influx of out-of-district cash. Amedore, from Rotterdam, raised roughly five times more than Tkaczyk, from Duanesburg, in the bid for the newly configured seat, a patchwork of rural communities extending from Ulster County to Montgomery County. Two organizations are poised to spend more than $500,000 in support of the Tkaczyk campaign. The money is pledged by two downstate super PACs, Friends of Democracy and Protect Our Democracy, and will fund television advertisements and a direct mail campaign supporting Tkaczyk.
