Officers injured in altercation at Coxsackie prison
Steve Hughes is reporting in the Times Union two correctional officers from Coxsackie Correctional Facility were taken to Albany Medical Center last week following an altercation with an incarcerated man. On Sun., Nov. 5, a 21-year-old man was being escorted back to his cell at the state facility when he allegedly struck an officer in the face, according to information released by the corrections officers’ union. In the struggle that subsequently ensued, the man and one of the officers fell down a flight of stairs. The man was eventually placed in mechanical restraints and taken to the facility's medical clinic. He was eventually evaluated and taken to a special housing unit. The two officers taken to Albany Med were treated and released. Seven other officers were treated at the Coxsackie facility's medical clinic. Read the full story in the Times Union.
