Schools add child abuse hotline signs
Aug 10, 2016 12:03 am
Ali Stewart reports for News10 in Albany that New York beginning this fall public and charter school will post the phone number for the state’s child-abuse hotline in a prominent location that students can see. Legislative sponsors of the law say one in four girls and one in six boys nationwide are molested, and these signs are meant to give children a way to find help. The signs in schools include this information:
• Statewide Toll Free Telephone Number: 1-800-342-3720
• Number for the deaf or hard-of-hearing, call TDD/TTY at 1-800-638-5163
• Video Relay System providers call 1-800-342-3720
• If you believe that a child is in immediate danger, call 911 or your local police department.
