Ryan tweaks Ulster County policy
Jun 27, 2019 12:33 am
Mid-Hudson News reports that new Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan signed his second executive order June 26, this one telling county employees to follow “new operating procedures that are designed to halt cooperation with federal immigration officials, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Patrol officers.” Ryan's first executive order addressed climate change, and the county's timetable to renewable energy sources. This sort-of non-compliance policy does not make Ulster County a “Sanctuary” county, “In light of statements and threats coming out of Washington D.C., we are here to make a clear unequivocal statement about our values as a county, and our values as a community. We reject division, we reject fear-mongering, we reject xenophobia,” Ryan said. Read more about this story at Mid-Hudson News.
