Jul 24, 2018 7:45 am
Richard Moody is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media the Ichabod Crane school district will hold a community forum July 24, to provide residents with information on the district's proposed $40 million capital improvement project. The forum will allow residents the opportunity to ask questions and provide comment on the two-phase capital project. “We are still early in the process, but we are moving forward now,” said Ichabod Crane Central School District Superintendent Michael Vanyo. “We are holding this community forum to figure out what the scope of the project will be, which will determine the cost.” The district intends to have a final project plan by October, with a possible vote on the proposition in December. The scope of the project includes improvements as identified in the building condition survey, such as replacement of door hardware, sidewalks, replacement of the fire alarm systems at the middle and primary schools. A portion of the plan would go toward reconfiguring the high school to better support classes in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. The district is also looking at installing a new turf field and bleachers at the high school and replacing lockers in the gym locker rooms at the middle school and more. The public forum will be held 6 p.m., Tue., Jul. 24, in the high school auditorium. Read the full story at HudsonValley360 [dot] com.
