Nolan Hicks reports for The New York Post that President Trump pardoned former Rep. Chris Collinson Dec. 22, after he was caught on camera on the White House lawn phoning insider stock tips to his son. , granting a reprieve to the upstate New York politician who was forced from Congress after he was caught on camera phoning insider stock tips to his son. Collins was sentenced to 26 months in prison in January after he pled guilty to the insider trading charges. Collins represented suburban and rural communities near Buffalo and was previously the Erie County executive and a key early supporter of Trump’s presidential campaign. A White House press release claimed the president granted the pardon “at the request of many Members of Congress,” though none were named. Trump pardoned more than a dozen people, just before Attorney General Bill Barr finished his last day in office. Read more about this story in The New York Post.
