Diane Pineiro-Zucker is reporting for the Daily Freeman a New Jersey man died Sat., Mar. 9, following a skiing accident at Hunter Mountain. Robert Vrablik, 22, of Florham, N.J., lost control and fell while skiing Hunter's Twilight Trail. Vrablik was the resort's third fatality in less than two months. All three people who died were skiing on trails that are new to Hunter this winter, but a Hunter spokeswoman said the trails will not be closed. The accident occurred about 3 p.m., when Vrablik was skiing with his sister and a friend, state police spokesman Trooper Steven Nevel said. The trooper said Vrablik was responsive while being taken to Albany Medical Center but died later. A preliminary cause of death was cardiac contusion, Nevel said. The death was the second on the advanced Twilight Trail since it opened in January. Hunter Mountain spokeswoman Katie O'Connor said all three deaths have been thoroughly investigated by the state police and state Department of Labor, and the labor department says the mountain's trails have proper signage. "There is no talk of shutting the trails down," she said. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
