Democrat Karen Smyth enters 41st Senate District race
MidHudsonNews [dot] com is reporting a second Democrat has entered the the 41st State Senate District race. Red Hook businesswoman Karen Smyth announced February 26, her intention to unseat incumbent Republican Susan Serino. Smythe said as far as she is concerned, the elected officials in Albany are not passing legislation to help the economy grow. “I don’t think that they are passing legislation that is helping to progress communities, to create good paying jobs; we need more middle class jobs that pay a living wage,” Smythe said. “We need to be providing health insurance so that people don’t have to worry about whether or not they can take their child to the doctor when they are sick.” Smyth will compete against Dutchess County Legislator Joel Tyler for the Democrat line. Tyner announced his candidacy in December. The district includes most of Dutchess County and half of Putnam County. Read the full story at MidHudsonNews [dot] com.
