Catskill planners approve retreat

Sarah Trafton reports for Columbia-Greene Media that the Catskill Planning Board voted March 26 to allow a proposed retreat center to operate in a rural-residential zone. The Piaule Landscaping Retreat on Mossy Hill Road plans to feature 20 mini-cabins and a main house at the site, with four of those cabins with two-bedrooms, and 16 others just one bedroom structures, on a 30-acre property. Nolan McHugh and Trevor Briggs hope to host weddings and other events. There had been some neighbor complaints, and modifications to the application. Amplified sound at events must be kept to the main house, according to the approval. A traffic study found the project will have a minimal impact on Mossy Hill Road.
