Conveyor belt fire at Lafarge

Cathleen F. Crowley reports in the Times Union a fire broke out on a conveyor belt at the Lafarge cement plant in Ravena, Mon., Aug. 27. The fire started around 2 p.m. and took about 90 minutes to douse. Firemen were challenged in their efforts because of the height of the fire and getting water to it. The burning conveyor belt created heavy black smoke. No injuries were reported. Read the full story in the Times Union.
