Saugerties town board member resigns abruptly
Sep 11, 2020 5:30 am
William J. Kemble is reporting for the Daily Freeman that Saugerties Town Board member Paul Andreassen has resigned with one year remaining on his four-year term. Andreassen did not provide a reason for his departure. Town Supervisor Fred Costello September 10, said the resignation was accepted during a meeting last week. “I am not aware of any motivating factor,” he said. Andreassen, a registered Independence Party member, won the board seat in 2017. In 2019, he unsuccessfully challenged Costello for town supervisor. Andreassen served on the Ulster County Industrial Development Agency board from July 2018 until May 2020, but he was not reappointed earlier this year. Costello said the town will take applications to fill the board vacancy. “We will solicit resumes and letters of interest from any and all parties who may want to be interviewed to fill the vacancy,” he said. “At the end of that process the town board will reach a consensus about who to appoint to fill that position.” Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
