Colarusso reimburses Hudson for engineering fees

Mar 26, 2019 8:15 am
Amanda Purcell is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media A. Colarusso and Son has refunded the city of Hudson more than $12,000 for an engineer to study the company’s dock repair project. The action comes after an 18-month-long legal battle with the city ended earlier this year. The city initially paid to hire an engineer for Colarusso’s already-completed, but not permitted, dock project after legal action halted direct communications between the city and the Greenport gravel company. Colarusso paid the city $12,265 in January, to cover the cost of the planning board’s review of the haul road application and to provide services to assist with the determination of the boundaries of the Core Riverfront Zoning District, according to a resolution passed by the Common Council. At the March 19 meeting of the council, Common Council President Thomas DePietro announced to city lawmakers the company had paid the city back. “I am happy to announce things are back on track,” he said. “We were refunded that money.” The company has placed an additional $10,000 in escrow and that money will be available for any additional costs going forward, a company representative said.
