Dutchess lawmakers vote on land bank resolution

MidHudsonNews [dot] com is reporting the Dutchess County Legislature voted June 8 to create the Dutchess County-Poughkeepsie Land Bank. The resolution noted there is an overriding public need to confront the problems caused by vacant, abandoned and tax-delinquent properties through the creation of new tools to be available to communities statewide, enabling them to turn vacant spaces into usable places. The land bank is focused on the acquisition of tax delinquent, tax foreclosed, vacant and abandoned real property. Recently, Ulster County officials voted to expand the Kingston Land Bank to cover that county. Sullivan County also has a county-wide land bank.
