The Altamont Enterprise reports that Republican senator George Amedore isn't saying whether is he running for re-election in 2020. Eileen Miller, director of communications for Amedore, said, “We haven’t made any formal announcements. We still have another legislative session to go.” In the past week Michelle Hinchey of Saugerties announced she has formed a committee to explore a run for 46th State Senate District seat. And another Democrat, Jeff Collins of Woodstock, announced a campaign to take on Amedore, a wealthy builder from Rotterdam. The 46th Senate District includes all of Greene and Montgomery counties and parts of Albany, Schenectady, and Ulster counties. Amedore has held the seat since 2014, when he beat Democrat Cecilia Tkaczyk. Read more about this story in the Altamont Enterprise.
