Delgado expresses concern for Hoosick Falls drinking water

Jan 09, 2019 12:21 am
Dan Freedman reports in the Albany Times Union that so far, Rep. Antonio Delgado (D-Rhinebeck) has been talking a lot about the water problem in Hoosick Falls, in Rensselaer County. “It’s definitely a priority of mine,” he said, saying he told House Speaker Nancy Pelosi about the issue, and brought Rep. Dan Kildee, a Democrat who represents Flint, to Hoosick Falls for a roundtable meeting during his election campaign. Drinking water in Hoosick Falls contains unacceptably high levels of PFOA, or perfluorooctanoic acid. "Based on his interest in listening to our community, I'm optimistic he will be a helpful force for our village and the issues we are facing," said Hoosick Falls Mayor Rob Allen. New York's Senators are also concerned with the water there. "We look forward to working with Rep. Delgado in the ongoing effort to fully address the impacts of the PFOA pollution in Hoosick Falls including full remediation, clean drinking water, and justice for all those who have been harmed," Schumer said in a statement.
