On today’s Afternoon Show, Paige Orloff discusses last week’s meeting about the TCI industrial fire in Ghent. Orloff’s was one of the residents at the meeting who spoke up and questioned the wisdom of allowing TCI to rebuild in the same location. In an Op-Ed in today’s Wall Street Journal, part time resident Ralph Gardner Jr. describes the events of that night as sounding “like one of those apocalyptic Don DeLillo novels:” http://www.ralphgardner.com/rustic-turns-rougher/
Cory Fisher Hoffman and Shannekia McIntosh will share some of the fruits of the WGXC youth radio workshop at the Athens Cultural Center.
We’ll preview some After the Flood stories, revisiting WGXC’s reporting from last year’s Hurricane Irene. Prattsville, a town of some 700 residents, was at the epicenter of the storm. Jess Puglisi and Lynn Sloniker were there on Saturday, talking to residents about the day of the flood and the ongoing recovery and rebuilding effort.
Elena Moseley, the (Exec. Director) of Operation Unite joins us with Hudson high school students who recently returned from a two week cultural exchange trip to Uganda.
And “New York’s Youngest Working Bandleader,” 16 year old Myles Mancuso will stop by on his way to Helsinki’s Monday night showcase.
…. and, of course, the rundown of news from over the weekend, a look at the week ahead & the occasional break for the WGXC sustaining membership drive. We Want To Recruit You!...
