Radio News: FCC eliminates main studio rule

The Federal Communications Commission voted 3-2 on party lines Oct. 24 to eliminate the main studio rule for AM, FM, and television stations, which mandated a broadcast licensee maintain a studio in its broadcast area. Republicans argued that anyone in a broadcast area can now communicate with a broadcast outlet through e-mail or telephone. FCC Commissioner Michael O'Reilly argued it would make things better.
