Sales tax receipts up statewide in November

Mark Wozniak is reporting for WBFO-FM State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli Mon., Dec. 20, reported that local sales tax collections in New York during November were up 17.5 percent from November 2020. The total collected last month was almost $1.6 billion, an increase of $235 million over the year before It was also an increase of 9.2 percent, or $133 million, when compared to the pre-pandemic month of November 2019. In a press release, DiNapoli said November collections may have benefited from early holiday shopping, but most receipts from holiday spending will likely be reflected in the December numbers.
