Valatie pays for roads, mowing

Nov 24, 2017 1:15 pm
Emilia Teasdale reports in The Columbia Paper that the village of Valatie will pay the Town of Kinderhook $10,000 more in 2018 to maintain village streets. Valatie's bill next year is $117,400. Kinderhook Town Supervisor Pat Grattan said that keeping up Valatie village roads costs closer to $160,000 or $170,000 annually. At a November 14 village board meeting Village Mayor Diane Argyle said the state has agreed to help clear snow from some of the curbs and gutters on Main Street, and also from sidewalks on the two bridges that lead into the village. Also, a private contractor, instead of the town, will now mow the three parks in the village. The next Valatie board meeting is at 7 p.m. Dec. 12 in the Martin H. Glynn Municipal Building.
