Hudson Common Council to hold public hearings on short-term rental laws
Feb 03, 2020 12:11 am
The Hudson Common Council holds public hearings Feb. 10 on imposing a six-month moratorium on the registration or operation of any new short-term lodging facility, and moving the short-term lodging tax to the city’s general fund. Hudson is the latest local municipality to consider legislation to regulate the short-term rental industry, which has been booming recently thanks to the internet and apps designed to make renting easy. But experts says those rentals are being taken out of the rental market for folks who live here, creating a shortage of places to live, and driving up the prices of the remaining rental units. Hillsdale and Jewett have passed regulations recently, and Chatham officials are also currently discussing short-term rental regulations. Tune in live webcast of the Hudson public hearings at 6 p.m., Feb. 10 at http://wavefarm.org/listen.
