Boardings on the upswing at Albany International

May 14, 2020 5:45 am
Rick Karlin is reporting for the Times Union boardings at Albany International Airport are making a slow, but steady comeback, although they are a long way from where they were before the coronavirus pandemic. “We are seeing an incremental increase,” airport spokesman Doug Myers said. On May 11, there were 427 boardings, compared to the average of 100 per day in prior weeks. They expect to see 600 or more per day by the week of May 18. The current overall number of boardings represents a 95 percent decrease in the air hub's previous rate of 4,100 boardings per day. Boardings represents every time a person boards an aircraft at the airport and there are generally an equal number of people disembarking and boarding. The number of boardings, or enplanements, is an important statistic used to calculate revenue for the airport. Other income sources include concession rentals and parking fees. Albany International is served by major carriers including United, Delta American, Southwest, Jet Blue, Frontier and Allegiant. Read the full story in the Times Union.
