Village, power company at odds over solicitation practices

Daniel Zuckerman is reporting in The Daily Mail Coxsackie village Mayor Mark Evans is cautioning residents that representatives of the integrated power company NRG are not working with the village on a project. Instead, Evans said, they are soliciting without a permit. Beginning last Tuesday, Evans received calls about salespeople from the Princeton, New Jersey-based company going door-to-door talking about the services the company offers and stating that NRG was working with, and representing the village. "They have nothing to do with the village in any way, shape or form," Evans said. He said if NRG persists in the practice the village "...will take appropriate action." Although soliciting is legal, Evans can revoke the soliciting license. NRG spokesman Erik Linden said the situation may be a case of miscommunication and added this is not the first time people have misinterpreted their message. Read the full story in The Daily Mail.
