Some legislators upset about income limit
Dec 10, 2018 12:34 am
Bill Mahoney reports for Politico that some of the folks who are getting a pay raise of nearly $50,000 after 20 years of the same salary are furious. Some legislators make far more money in outside income, which is being limited in conjunction with the pay raises. The new regulations limit legislators to $19,500 a year in income from the private sector, with no jobs in related professions such as law. Locally Republican George Amedore, who earned more as a homebuilder in 2017 than the proposed cap on annual outside income would allow, according to his financial disclosure forms, is upset about the measure. Assemblyperson Will Barclay, a Republican representing the Oswego area, said, “I’m not for a full-time Legislature, and I think the commission overstepped its bounds. I’m not sure how you can transition to a full-time Legislature without legislative debate on it.” Bill Mahoney reports for Politico
