DOCCS bringing back retired officers for part-time shifts

Mid-Hudson News reports that New York's Department of Corrections and Community Supervision will try to fill some of its job openings by hiring retired corrections officers on a part-time basis. State law allows retired officers to be rehired, as long as they are off the job for at least six months but now more than four years. Part-timers hired will get an hourly rate of $34.81, and have a choice of correctional facilities for employment with flexible shifts, and 40 hours of in-service training per year.
