Hempstead is currently seeking re-election. The missing signs turned up behind the Hunter ambulance building, which set into motion the events that led to Kirkman's arrest. Hempstead reported to the Sheriff's Office that a number of his signs had been either vandalized or taken, and posted an offer of a $500 reward for information.
