Officials consider extension of Catskill/Leeds sewer project

Jim Planck writes in The Daily Mail the idea of altering the proposed Town and Village of Catskill sewer line extension continues to evolve. Officials from the towns of Athens and Cairo, and Greene County, gathered Thurs., Nov. 1 to learn more about the options available, and the potential costs involved. The current plan calls for the extension of the $8.6 million Leeds project. If more than one town participates, the county would have the option to assist. The Leeds project will connect the hamlet to the Village of Catskill's sewer plant. On Thursday, a representative of consultant Delaware Engineering presented additional options to include the Town of Athens, adding up 50 users, and into the Town of Cairo, adding nearly 300 households to the system. Officials said further discussion with the engineers may be appropriate, and that approval of the concept would depend on public interest and cost. Read the full story in The Daily Mail.
